Online energy-saving switch with a gateway function running HTLock with the function of controlling the use of electrical energy in the room.
The classic purpose of energy-saving switches is performing a service function. On coming back to the hotel room, a guest should insert the card into the pocket to unlock the electricity supply. As a result, only those lights are turned on that were glowing when the guest went out of the room. Accordingly, when leaving the room, one does not need to turn off several light switches manually. It is enough just to remove the card from the pocket. The room lights turn off automatically in about 15 seconds. Undoubtedly, this option ensures energy saving in the hotel, and eliminates the need to pay for idle electricity consumption. When a guest leaves the room, you can be sure that the light is not used by nobody.
An online energy-saving switch, in addition to the described above feature, solves the issues of unauthorized use of hotel rooms.
Functions of the online energy-saving switch
- Electricity switching in the room with the help of a guest's card.
- Turning on the electricity only with the card of the guest staying in the room.
- Reports on the use of electricity in the room.
- Displaying security events if the staff card remains in the pocket for more than one hour.
- Remote turning on and off the light in the room. It does not matter if the card is inserted into the pocket or not. Remote changing the operation mode of the switch.
- Functioning offline in case of a failure of the HTLock server.
- Operating as a room lock gateway in the BLE4.2 mode.
- Support for LAN and Wi-Fi operation.
The basic purpose of the online energy-saving switch is to prevent theft in hotel rooms. The device reads information from the guest's card, checks whether it matches the room number and the guest's length of stay. If the actual room corresponds to the information recorded on the card, and the moment of inserting is within the period of the guest's stay, the room light goes on. Simultaneously, the switch creates an event that is displayed on the server that the guest has activated the local electricity supply.
As soon as one removes the card and leaves the room, an event that the light has been turned off is created. Any card, including a personnel one, or remote turning on can initiate an event. Moreover, if an employee's card stays in the switch pocket for more than an hour (there may be a possibility that a guest was checked in without accounting at the reception), such an event is displayed in the special report on the rejection of electricity usage in the room. In the case of integration with PMS, there are even more control options. The hotel owner can easily compare all financial transactions of guests in the PMS system to the actual use of electricity in rooms.
In addition, the online energy-saving switch enables turning the room electricity on and off remotely. If the hotel manager or owner detects unauthorized use of electricity, it is possible to stop the room power supply immediately. In this case, cards cannot be used to switch the light on and off until the device is switched to the standard mode. Accordingly, the light in the room can be turned on remotely without even inserting a card into the switch pocket. This option can be used by the clock. For example, you can easily turn on or off the room light for 5 hours or till 10 a.m.
Remote turning on and off the electricity in a room can be useful in routine situations. For example, when you need to turn on the light in the room during the repair works planned for several days. Or when a guest checks in remotely without a card, using a mobile App or a passcode for password locks.

LAN (Ethernet), Wi-Fi. When connecting the switch to the server over Wi-Fi, it is recommended to either install an additional dedicated service hotspot or create a dedicated SSID in an existing network with a small guaranteed bandwidth at the vlan level. The specified Wi-Fi network does not require access to the Internet. It is not recommended to connect the switch to the guest Wi-Fi network, since the network can be potentially overloaded by guests. This may cause failures in data transmission between the server and the switch. |
